Meet The Artist!

Jenn Weaver was born and raised in rural Indiana, where she had always been surrounded by creativity, thanks to my mother and her sister. She discovered, at a young age, that she loved two things: art and nature.  She always traveled with some type of craft to make, and loves visiting her grandmother in the country.

Jenn grew up in Benton County, Indiana, where being a 10 year member of 4-H allowed her to explore different art forms including basketry. She spent most of her time in the art rooms, where she made her fondest memories of high school.

In 2006, Jenn graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts Education, with a focus on drawing. For the next 15 years she taught art in a rural public middle and high school, which included high school classes of Drawing, Painting, and Fiber Arts.

Jenn is a dog-mom, monarch butterfly rescuer, antique/flea market lover, mid-century christmas collector, microbrewery supporter, gardener, native plant advocate, historical reenactor, 4-H basket leader, art teacher, and as of 2021, a full-time artist.

As an artist, Jenn Weaver loves to play with color schemes and texture while being inspired by nature.  Her work tends to switch between drawing, painting, and then back to fibers and basketry. She continues to teach a wide variety of arts to children and adults beyond the public schools. Finding that her basketry is well appreciated by historical reenactors and those that appreciate historical pieces, she has began to participate and sell at those types of events.

Jenn participates in several art shows each year and is a member of Tippecanoe Arts Federation and the Prairie Arts Council.

Jenn Weaver’s basketry consists of both functional items and sculpture, and she continues to incorporate items from nature such as driftwood and antlers.  She says, “I enjoy drawing and painting portraits, pets, and little treasures made by mother nature.”

She also states, “I encourage children and adults to cherish this beautiful perfectly designed earth and to bring pieces of it into their homes.”
